Minnesota Machine Shops
Anyone interested in a career as a machinist should seriously consider the Minneapolis area. I would say that there are more medical device companies here than anywhere else in the US.
The best part about working for these medical companies verses some other type of machining is:
- No heavy lifting (these parts are insanely small)
- Most shop are air conditioned
- The pay is good because of the precision work it’s hard to find qualified people
- It’s a high demand field, so if you get layed off or quit one company for whatever reason you will have no trouble getting a job with another shop
